Dark theme: how to enable it and why my colors disappear in it
← BackThe “Theme” informer gives the visitor a 🌙/☀️ button. In dark theme, the background, text and link colors from the styles window are not applied — this is by design.
- Add a menu item with the “Theme” module (code
informer_theme) — via “Select” → “Informers”. Save. - A 🌙 button appears in the menu. The visitor clicks it — the site turns dark and the button changes to ☀️.
The choice is remembered in the visitor’s browser. By default the site is light: it becomes dark only if the visitor clicks the button themselves.
Why colors disappear. In dark theme, blocks don’t use the colors set in the styles window: background, text color and link color. Otherwise a light block background with dark text would remain a light spot, and light text would vanish on a dark background. Everything else works: font, size, borders, shadows, padding, background image. The gradient over the image is turned off.
So set up colors in the light theme. If you open the styles window in dark theme, a hint appears in its header saying that block colors are visible only in the light theme.
If it didn’t work
- I saved a color — nothing changed. Dark theme is on for you. Click ☀️ and check.
- The visitor sees the site dark, and you see it light. The theme is individual and stored in each person’s browser.
- A color inserted into the page text stayed in dark theme. Dark theme recolors only the styles window settings. A color inside a section’s text stays as it was set.
