How to set up a user greeting in the menu and after login

← Back

The “Greeting” informer: a menu text based on the template “Hello, {Name|E-mail}” and a separate message right after login. Both fields are in the module settings.

  1. Add a menu item with the “Greeting” module (code informer_hello) — via “Select” → “Informers”. Save.
  2. Open the item and click “Module settings”.
  3. “Informer text” — what is shown in the menu. By default Hello, {Name|E-mail}.
  4. “Flash greeting template after login” — the message that pops up right after login.
  5. Save.

Substitutions. {Name} is the name from the user’s personal settings, {E-mail} is their address. A vertical bar means “or”: {Name|E-mail} shows the name, and if it isn’t filled in, the e-mail. If there is nothing to substitute, the placeholder is removed along with the comma before it. HTML is allowed: <br>, <b>, links.

Guests don’t see the greeting. On a phone the greeting stays in the header next to the logo; a long one wraps to a second line.

If it didn’t work

  • No “Welcome” after login. The message after login is shown only from a template: fill in “Flash greeting template after login”.
  • The greeting disappeared both in the menu and after login. An empty “Informer text” disables the label in the menu. An informer hidden from the menu doesn’t greet after login either.
  • {City} is shown instead of the name. Only {Name} and {E-mail} work; unknown placeholders are left as they are.
