The rule is simple: make a copy before a risky edit, not after. Mass text replacement, changing languages, uploading someone else's form over a finished one — all of these are worth a minute for a copy.

What is worth saving separately, besides the general copy:

• completed forms — using the "Download form" button in the form itself;
• page texts that took a long time to write — by simply copying into a document.

Restoration returns data to the moment of the copy: everything done after will be lost. Therefore, before restoring, it's worth making another copy of the current state — in case you restore to the wrong place.
