How to download a copy of the site and restore it from the copy

1. Open the “Backups” section — usually at /backups. It is available only to the site administrator.
2. Click “⬇ Download site backup”. For a large site, building the backup takes a few minutes — do not close the page. Save the finished file on your computer.
3. To roll the site back to a backup, click “⬆ Restore from file…” and choose the file. It will upload in parts, and a “Backup check” block will appear: whose site it is, when the backup was made, and how much data and how many files it contains.
4. If everything is correct, click “Restore site” and confirm.

A backup includes sections, settings, users, products, orders, and the rest of the site’s data, as well as uploaded images and files. The file is encrypted: it can be opened only on this server and restored only to this same site. A backup cannot be moved to another site.

Restoring returns everything to the moment of the backup: anything done after it will be lost. That is why, before each restore, the engine automatically saves the current state to “Safety backups” (the last five are kept). If you restored the wrong one, open this list and click ↩ on the right row; you can also download a backup from there.

Make a backup before any risky change: bulk text replacement, changing languages, or deploying a template over the site.

If it didn’t work

• The “Restore site” button is inactive. The reason is written under the check table — most often it is a backup of another site. It cannot be restored here.
• A warning about the encryption key appears instead of the buttons. The key is not configured on the server, and backups cannot be made without it. Contact support.
• The /backups address returns 404. The module opens only at the address of its own section, and this site has no such section. On the “Site structure” page, create a section with the address /backups, enter backups in the “Module” field, and set access to “Administrators only”.
• After restoring, you were asked to log in again. Your account is not in the backup (it was created later). Log in with an account that existed on the site at the time of the backup.
