How to set up registration: open, by promo code or closed
← BackIn the module settings of the "Registration" section, choose the "Registration mode"; the page after login is set in the "Login" section.
- In the site structure, open the "Registration" section → "Module settings".
- In the "Registration mode" field, choose:
- "Standard registration" — anyone can register, a promo code is optional;
- "Closed registration by promo code only" — without a valid code, an account is not created;
- "Close registration" — instead of the form, the message "Registration is closed on this project." is shown, and the "Register" link disappears from the login page.
- To make people land somewhere other than the home page after login, open the "Login" section → "Module settings" and enter the address in "Page after login", for example
/cabinet. - Click "Save" in the section window.
The mode applies to the whole site. If different modes are chosen in different login and registration sections, the strictest one works.
Promo codes for closed registration are created on the "Promo codes" tab in the "General settings" section; the value can be 0 rub. — then the code works as an invitation.
No password is entered during registration: a temporary one arrives by email, and the visitor immediately lands on the login form with the e-mail already filled in. On first login they will be asked to change the password.
If a person was sent to the login page from a closed section, after logging in they will return to that section — this takes priority over the "Page after login" setting. Only an address on your own site is accepted in the field; a foreign address or the login page leads to the home page.
If it didn't work
- Registration is closed, but the "Registration" menu item remains. It does not hide itself — change its access level in the structure.
- After login it still goes to the home page. Check that the address is entered in the "Login" section and that such a section exists on the site.
