How to view the site through a specific user's eyes
← BackThe login icon next to the e-mail in the user list opens the site as that person; to return, use the “Return to admin” button at the bottom of the screen.
- Open “General settings” → the “Users” tab.
- Click the arrow icon right after the person's e-mail (tooltip: “Log in to user's account”).
- The site's home page will open — already as that user. At the bottom of the screen there is a bar saying “You are viewing the site as a user…”.
- When you're done, click “Return to admin” in that bar — no password is needed.
This is useful when a person writes “it won't open for me” or “I can't see a section”: you see exactly their menu, their balance, the sections available to them, and their errors. The user's password is not changed and is not needed.
While you are in someone else's account, you have no administrator rights: “General settings” and editing are unavailable. Logging into someone else's account does not count as a user visit — the date of their last login does not change.
If it didn't work
- You clicked “Log out” in the menu and ended up fully logged out. “Log out” ends the entire login, including yours. To return, use the button in the bar at the bottom; if you have already logged out, just log in again.
- Your own row has no icon. There is no reason to log in as yourself, so there is no icon there.
- “Session expired, please repeat the action.” The users page was open for too long — refresh it and click the icon again.
