How to add product search
← BackA section with the "Catalog search" module is the results page; the "Search" informer is a search bar with suggestions in the header.
- Create a results section, for example
/search: in the "Module" field click "Select" → "Catalog search". You can hide it from the menu. - In the "Module settings" window, optionally specify "Where to search: sections" (empty — the whole site) and "Results per page". The cards are rendered by this section's "Object preview template".
- Add the "Search" informer to the menu and, in its settings, enter the "Search page address" — the address of the section from the first step.
Search covers the title, description, and property values — so an article number is found too, if it is stored as a property.
Search bar settings: "Hint in the empty field", "Suggestions while typing (0 — no suggestions)", "Always collapsed into a magnifier button". On a narrow screen the bar collapses into a magnifier automatically; to prevent this, use "Do not collapse into a magnifier on a narrow screen".
The text for empty results is set in the results page settings: "Text if nothing is found". Tell visitors there what to search for or where to write.
If it didn't work
- The search bar leads to a 404. The address in the informer doesn't match the address of the results section.
- A product isn't found. Check the "Where to search" setting: if sections are listed there, the others are not searched.
