How to import objects from a file

← Back

The «Import» button in the «Object management» section: an XLSX, CSV, YML file or a link, column mapping, a check without writing, then the import.

  1. In the «Object management» section, click «Import».
  2. In the «Where to import» block, choose the «Section for new objects», the mode and, if needed, the «Sections to search for objects» (if nothing is selected, the search covers the whole site).
  3. In the «Source» block, drag in a file or paste an address into the «Link to file» field.
  4. In the «Column mapping» block, under each column choose where to write its values: an object field, a property or a new property. Select «Key» for the column by which a row finds the object on the site. On the left, the header row is marked.
  5. Click «Check»: a run without writing will show warnings. Then click «Import».

Formats: XLSX, XLS, ODS, CSV, YML, XML. Large files (up to 512 MB) are uploaded in parts. Save XLS and ODS files larger than 10 MB as XLSX or CSV.

Modes. «Update, and add objects that are missing on the site» or «Only update data in existing objects». If the key is an ID and there is no such object, a new object is not created: otherwise every repeat would produce duplicates.

Useful settings: «Empty cells do not change object data», «Upload the image only for objects without an image» (re-importing a price list does not download photos again), «Separator of values in properties with a choice». For a trial run, set «How many objects to import», for example 10. The form remembers your choices until next time, except for this number.

The import runs in batches with progress and can be stopped. The result is a per-row report and a «Download report» button.

If it didn't work

  • The price was not written. The price column is written only to objects with a single price. The import does not fill the price matrix by variants.
  • You need a gallery. Only the first link is taken from the images column.
  • The object ended up in the wrong section. The «Section» column applies only to new objects; a section that is not found is replaced with the one chosen in the «Section for new objects» field, with a warning in the report.
