How to sort products from YML into sections

← Back

For YML with categories, the import shows a «Sections from the file» block: select the categories, click «Create sections» — and new objects will be placed according to them.

  1. Open «Import» and upload the supplier's YML file. If it contains categories, the «Sections from the file» block will appear.
  2. Select the categories you need. The checkbox is applied together with subcategories; there is a «Search categories» field for searching.
  3. In «Place into section», choose where to put the tree, or «— site root —». If you wish, select «Copy this section's properties into the new sections».
  4. Click «Check», then «Create sections».
  5. In the column mapping, the categoryId column should be set to «Category from the file» — it is usually selected automatically. Then import as usual.

The «category / subcategory» structure is reproduced as site sections. The new sections take the module, access and preview template from the section they are nested in.

The link between a category and a section is remembered. Running again with the same file duplicates nothing: categories that are already linked are shown with a gray checkmark and the section name. A section with the same name in the same place is also not duplicated, but linked. An unselected category is skipped, and its subcategories are placed under the nearest created section above.

A new object is placed in the section of its category. If the category has no section, it goes into the «Section for new objects», with a warning in the report.

If it didn't work

  • There is no «Sections from the file» block. It appears only for YML that contains a list of categories. CSV and XLSX don't have it — use the «Section» column there.
  • Already uploaded objects didn't move. A category sorts only new objects. Existing ones are moved manually with the «Section» field.
  • I deleted a section — the category is offered again. This is by design: the link is deleted together with the section.
