How to show similar and recommended objects

On the object page, add the "Other objects in the section" element (random neighbors) or "Recommended objects" (a list you choose yourself).

  1. Open an object on the site as an administrator and click "Add field".
  2. In "Field type", in the "Object data" group, choose "Other objects in the section" or "Recommended objects" and save.
  3. Hover over the new element and click the pencil.
  4. For "Other objects in the section", set the "Number of objects" (4 by default).
  5. For the "Recommended" field, start typing a name or number in the "Find object by name or number" field and pick from the results. The order is changed with the arrows, and unwanted items are removed.

Other objects in the section are random objects from the same section, excluding the object itself. The set is different each time.

Recommended is a permanent list, and it belongs to the object, not the layout: each object has its own. You can take objects from any sections of the site, up to 50 items. A deleted object disappears from the list automatically.

The cards look the same as in this object's section: with its preview template or as a regular tile.

If the elements are added to the shared layout, "Other objects in the section" will appear for all objects at once. "Recommended" is also present for everyone on the shared layout, but the list has to be chosen for each object — until it is filled, the visitor does not see the block.

If it didn't work

  • The block is empty and only the administrator sees it. Read the note in the block: the object has no section, the section has no other objects, or recommendations haven't been chosen yet.
  • Visitors see the same set. The page may have been cached. For pages where randomness matters, enable "Do not cache" for the section.
