How to create a dropdown menu

Create an item with the address “#” (or “#something”) — it will have no page of its own, but it will gather sub-items under it.

  1. In the “Site structure” section, click “Add top-level item”.
  2. In the “URL (alias)” field, enter the # character. An address starting with a hash is the mark of an item without a page of its own: when clicked, it simply expands a list.
  3. Save.
  4. Now click “+” on this item and add sub-items — each of them already has an ordinary address.

You can have as many dropdown menus as you like, but their addresses must differ: for example #, #more, #o-nas.

A sub-item can also be made from an existing section: open it and select the dropdown in the “Parent” field.

If it didn’t work

  • The item fails to save with an error. The address # is already taken by another dropdown. Give this one its own: #more or similar.
  • The item leads to the home page instead of expanding. The address ended up as /# instead of #. Enter an address starting with the hash and save.
  • The sub-items are not visible. Check the “Access level” of the sub-items themselves: a hidden sub-item will not appear in the list.
