How to turn your site into a VKontakte mini app

Create an app on dev.vk.ru, set up a section with the app_vk module, enter the ID and secure key, and specify the section address for all app platforms.

  1. On dev.vk.ru, create a mini app. Take the "App ID" and the "Secure key" — not the "Service access key".
  2. Create a section, for example /vk-app, with the app_vk module and access set to «Everyone».
  3. In «Module settings», enter the «VK app ID» and the «Secure key».
  4. Open the section page as an administrator. Copy the «Address for app settings on dev.vk.ru» and paste it into the app for all platforms: vk.com, m.vk.com, Android and iOS.
  5. Select «Where the user goes after login» and click «Save».

The VK user gets onto the site under their own account. It is created on first login. Outside VKontakte the site works as usual.

Payment under VK rules

VK considers the site's plans and services to be digital goods. On vk.com and m.vk.com they are paid for through the site's regular payment acceptance, but only banks licensed by the Central Bank are allowed. In the VK mobile apps for Android and iOS, the pages from the «Payment pages (closed in VK mobile apps)» field show only "Payment on the platform is unavailable". VK votes are not accepted for topping up the balance.

VK requires a page with the payment and refund rules and the seller's details: full name or company name, INN, OGRN(IP), address for a legal entity, phone or e-mail. Create it as a regular section with access set to "Everyone" and enter its address in the «"Payment, refund and seller details" page» field. A link to it will appear at the bottom of the app pages.

One site can have several VK apps, for example a website and a game. Each one needs its own section with its own ID. The person still has a single account.

If it didn't work

  • Moderation remark about the app address. The section address must be set for all platforms in the submission. It's better to remove unneeded platforms.
  • Unable to confirm login. The secure key is not from this app, or the "Service access key" was entered.
  • Red warning about the same app ID in two sections. Login will always go to the first section — fix the ID.
