How to make a section open in a pop-up window

← Back

Check “Open in window” in the section window and choose “Window position” — links to the section will open it over the current page.

  1. Open the section window.
  2. Check “Open in window”.
  3. In “Window position” choose: “window on the left”, “window on the right”, “window at the top”, “window at the bottom”, “window in the center” or “system window” — the visitor can move it by the title bar, drag its edges, minimize and expand it.
  4. Click “Save”.

Now any link to this section — from the menu or from the text — opens it in a window without reloading the page. The address in the browser bar changes to the section's address, and the “Back” button closes the window. The section itself remains a regular page: the direct link, search and access levels work as before.

The window's appearance is edited with the gear icon in its title bar. Each position has its own style, and the “Apply to this block only” checkbox is on right away for windows — only this window will change. The second button in the title bar adjusts the dimming around it. The size and padding handles inside the window also change only this window.

If it didn't work

  • The section opened as a regular page. This happens with a Ctrl-click or middle-click, with an “open in new tab” link, and if the server did not return the section — for example, it is closed to guests and requires login.
  • Part of the module doesn't work in the window. Not all modules can run inside a window. Open the section by its direct link or uncheck the box.
