How to change the site name, title, and description

All of this is on the "About the site" tab in the "General settings" section, with the "Save all" button at the bottom.

  1. Open "General settings" in the admin menu and go to the "About the site" tab.
  2. "Project name" — a short site name. It's shown in the header and inserted into the browser tab title on all pages.
  3. "Home page title" — an expanded title for search results. Up to 60 characters.
  4. "Home page description" — two or three sentences that the search engine will show under the title. Up to 160 characters.
  5. The top field is "Text to display on the home page for guests". This is the home page content, not a service setting.
  6. Click "Save all".

The "Home page keywords" field is optional: search engines haven't taken it into account for many years.

The home page description also works as a fallback for other pages: if a section doesn't have its own search description filled in, this one is used.
