How to change the site name, title, and description

All of this is on the "About the site" tab in the "General settings" section, with the "Save all" button at the bottom.

  1. Open "General settings" in the administrator menu and go to the "About the site" tab.
  2. "Project name" — the short name of the site. It is shown in the header and inserted into the browser tab title on all pages.
  3. "Home page title" — an extended title of the home page for search results. Up to 60 characters. The project name is not appended to it — add it yourself if needed.
  4. "Home page description" — two or three sentences that the search engine will show under the title. Up to 160 characters.
  5. Click "Save all".

The "Home page keywords" field is optional: search engines have ignored it for many years.

The text of the home page itself is not set here: it is edited in the home page section — with the "Edit section text" button.

The home page description also works as a fallback for other pages: if a section has no description of its own for search, this one is used. And if the home page section has its own SEO title filled in, it takes priority over the "Home page title".
